Im coming to the official end of my first trimester! Im excited for it to be over, the first trimester is often fraught with worry for most women. The end of it brings a huge milestone for your baby. The chances of misscarrying drop drastically and the placenta takes over hormone production for the baby. Women who are experiencing morning sickness should find it finally goes away! Now your baby is settled in for the long haul, organs have developed, tiny fingers and toes are present, the gender is starting to become visible and the baby is going to explode in size (as if it hasnt already!!) The first trimester should have brought 3-5lbs of weight along with it, if you lost weight thats okay as long as your health care provider isnt concerned. My first trimester with my first son was brutal, I lost 8lbs because I was so sick. I soon packed them back on when I was able to eat again starting in the second trimester. From here on it you will probably find it easier to cook and eat. Expect to gain 3/4ths to 1 pound per week for the remainder of your pregnancy. If you were a healthy weight prior to becoming pregnant you should gain about 25-35lbs by the end of your 40 weeks.
